How to Set Up a Product Waitlist
A waitlist uses the Back in Stock feature with different labels. Create a campaign, change the form text to "Join waitlist," and customize the email. No separate app needed.
What you need
- Pro plan for email alerts (browser push notifications work on every plan)
- Back in Stock theme extension enabled
- At least one out-of-stock product
Step 1: Create a campaign
- Open the Dash app → Back in Stock → Campaigns.
- Click Create campaign.
- Enter a name (e.g., "Limited Edition Waitlist").
- Set status to Active.
- Under Products, choose targeting:
- Products with tags — enter a tag like
waitlist - Specific products — enter full product titles or IDs
- Specific variants — enter variant titles or IDs
- Set inventory threshold (default: 1).
- Set priority (higher number = wins over other campaigns).
- Click Save.
Tip: If threshold = 10, Dash waits until 10+ units are in stock before notifying.
Step 2: Customize the signup form
- Go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
- Open a product page.
- Select the Dash Back in Stock block.

- In your campaign, go to the Email tab.
- Click Add language.
- Select a language (e.g., French, German).
- Enter translated subject, heading, body, button text.
- Click Save.
Step 5: Test
- Set a waitlist product to zero inventory.
- Visit the product page on your storefront.
- Submit the form with your email.
- Check Back in Stock → Subscribers — your email should show "Waiting."
- Add inventory to the product.
- Wait a few minutes, then check your inbox.
Not receiving the email? If status changed to "Notified," check spam. If still "Waiting," inventory hasn't reached the threshold yet.
